These best nymphs target all kinds of trout as well as grayling and mountain whitefish.

Unless otherwise stated, all pictures show patterns tied on Kamasan hook B405, size 10. The beads shown are built from brass, diameter 4 mm, gold- or nickel-plated. If the picture shows a gold bead, this particular nymph may be ordered with a brass or a tungsten bead, but only gold plated.

Tying Bead Head Nymphs for Flyfishing on Kamasan Hooks

1 - first of all, push your gold or nickel bead head on the hook, making sure the smaller hole on the bead is next ot the hook´s eye. The bore in the bead is tapered, so the hole on one side is small and the one on the other side is larger. The reason for this is that it makes it easier to get the bead around the hook bend. Now the bead sits on the hook a bit wiggly. As previously mentioned, the head could already be stabilized with a good dose of dubbing, but this won´t last long. Not long enough for me, anyway.

2 - I now wrap one and a half layers of lead wire on the hook-shank. The diameter of the wire should be chosen so that the part with two layers of lead just fits into the large hole.

3 - now you apply a little superglue both on the front part of the lead and on the hook-shank in between the lead and the bead and then...

4 - ...quickly push the lead into the bore. Hook, bead and lead now form a homogene and solid unit. Besides, the lead more than compensates for the loss of weight caused by the larger bore. You have just finished the base of a durable and efficient nymph!

How to order

The order number consists of seven digits. You just need to complete the last three digits! The last one decides if the pattern comes with a brass (B) or with a tungsten (T)bead. The two digits in front of the last one define the hook size.

Example: The yellow killer bee with gold plated brass head - size 10 = N80210B, with a tungsten bead = N80210T.
